Baptism
Baptism brings us into contact with the power of Christ's redeeming love. We do not believe that others are excluded from it, only that in the sacraments we are 'guaranteed' a salvific meeting with Christ.
Christ died and rose again. Through baptism we enter a new world that God is reconciling with his love where Christ is the instrument of the Father's will.

Holy Communion
The SVP serve Holy Communion at home to people who are unable to attend Mass.
The First Communion programme helps parents prepare children for their first Sacrament of Confession and their first Sacrament of Holy Communion.
Classes are timed to fit conveniently with Sunday Mass, which the children should be attending. Children should be at least 7 or 8 years of age. Classes start in September, and run through to First Confession in December, and First Communion in May.
Before the course, parents should...
- make sure the child is baptised ( a baptism certificate will be required),
- pray regularly with the child,
- bring the child to Sunday Mass with family regularly,
- make sure the child knows the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be to the Father, &
- teach the child to make the sign of the cross.
During the first half of the course the children will prepare for their First Confession. Once they have made their First Confession you should bring them with you to confession regularly.
During the second half of the course the children will prepare for their First Communion. After that they should come to Mass regularly. You should not allow their First Communion to be their last Communion.

Marriage
- If you are you planning to marry, six months' notice is required for administration purposes.
- You must contact the 'REGISTRAR OF MARRIAGES' in the registration district in which you live.
Please tell the Registrar you wish to give 'Notice of your Marriage'. You will be offered an appointment and at this stage please ask what documents you'll need to bring with you.
When you meet the Registrar he/she will ask you some basic information which will be typed on to two blue certificates. These certificates will be displayed in the Registrar's office for 3 weeks and you will be given a date to collect them. Once you have collected these certificates you must give them to Fr Richard Moroney as soon as possible (without these certificates the wedding cannot take place).
There is a charge of approximately £30 per certificate.
- If you are a Catholic person you will need to give to Fr Richard a recent (that is written out within the last 6 months) Baptismal Certificate.
If you were baptised at St Anthony's, a copy can be requested from Maria Boland.
If you are not a Catholic, you will need a letter from one of your parents saying that you were or were not baptised and that you have not been married before.
- Please ensure that you have booked in for one of our marriage preparation courses.
Marriage preparation courses are held during each year, organised by the Slough deanery. This year's courses have finished. Details of next year's courses will appear here when they are arranged.
Please complete an application form and return it to the parish secretary with a cheque for £30 (per couple) made payable to 'Slough Deanery Pastoral Council'.
- Once you have your Blue Certificate from the Registrar and Baptismal Certificate/Letter, please contact Fr Richard to arrange to meet him to complete papers and to go through the details of your marriage ceremony.
